The Stiletto Effect.

Our research identified that when in a heeled shoe >4cm, the Windlass Mechanism is constantly activated. This supinates the foot, overloading the peroneals, followed by the flexors and extensors, putting the wearer at risk of acute pain, ankle injuries and chronic toe deformities.

The EB HIGH HEELS are designed for any heel over 4cm sporting a full length valgus wedge to prevent the foot from over supinating and subsequently reducing peroneal muscle fatigue and flexor overload. We have combined MEDIGEL & HEXAGEL to safely support the foot whilst giving a metatarsal lift and infinite forefoot cushioning.

Clinical Application.

The Emily Braidwood footbeds perfectly compliment a customised orthoses prescription for shoes where the customised orthoses won't fit, or are a cost-effective option for patients as an off-the-shelf orthoses in all styles of shoes. Our footbeds are customisable, transferable, reusable and skin-stickable - great for all barefoot sports and activities! They are slim-line & discreet.

Both our EB FLATS & EB HIGH HEEL footbeds have integrated support for targeted relief of heel, arch & forefoot pathologies. In addition, practitioners can adhere customised support dorsally using foam, PPT or EVA.

The Emily Braidwood footbeds make a striking display within a clinical space as well as at reception, with many patients buying multiple pairs, as well as gifts for family members.

Product Overview.

For a technical product & science overview, please watch our 12 minute TECHNICAL VIDEO here. To summarise, the prior research has identified that in a heel over 4cm the subtlar joint inverts, the forefoot pronates (forefoot valgus) and the peroneal complex exertion is two fold.

However the research has overlooked that activation of the Windlass Mechanism causes the foot to consistently supinate and therefore the peroneals to excessively exert to hold a neutral foot position. Once the peroneals fatigue, the flexors and extensors over exert (causing toe contracture) and the wearer is at significant risk of experiencing ankle injuries and debilitating foot pain.

< How to use.

In shoes without removable liner:

Peel off the plastic backing and stick down into the shoe starting at the heel, through to the toe. Please note, the footbed will finish behind the toes.

In shoes with a removable liner:

For ease of transferring from shoe to shoe, it’s best to leave on the plastic backing. Remove the shoes liner and place the EB inside the shoe and hold with placement against the heel. Place the shoes liner over the top.
